The volume of rail freight traffic in January is 57% less than last year

The volume of rail freight traffic in January 2023 amounted to 11.29 million tons, which is 57% less than in January last year. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to Rail.insider.

In the first month of 2023, Ukrzaliznytsia transported most of all grain and grinding products (3.57 million tons), coal (2.07 million tons). 1.65 million tons of iron and manganese ore were transported. In January last year, this figure was 6.72 million tons.

In terms of types of transportation in January 2023, domestic transportation decreased by 49.2%, export – by 50.1%, import – by 85.6% and transit – by 92.5%.
