After the commissioning of the Rasht-Anzali railway (Gilan province in northern Iran), the Persian Gulf will be connected to the Caspian Sea by rail, as Railway Supply magazine reports citing Zerkalo. information portal.
It was said by the deputy director of the Iranian transport infrastructure construction and development company Abbas Khatibi. According to him, the length of the road from Rasht to Caspian port in Anzali is 37 kilometers.
“22.9 trillion riyals (about $ 545 million) have been invested in the construction of the road, and a quarter of the work has already been completed. After investing another four trillion rials (about $ 95.2 million), the road will be put into operation in the end of April 2021, ”Khatibi said.
