The future belongs to the market of after-sale rolling stock service

Consulting agency SCI Verkehr (Germany) predicts a significant growth in the market for maintenance of rail rolling stock, which already exceeds the market for new rolling stock in terms of volume, reports Railway Supply magazine with reference to Zdmira.

At the same time, as the agency notes, an increase in competition in this market can be expected, since the supply of new cars and locomotives has decreased due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and manufacturing companies are increasingly focusing on maintenance and repair services.

The aftermarket is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 3.9% through 2024. However, the dynamics will have a damping character: if in 2021 the growth will be about 6%, then by 2024 it will decrease to about 2%.

According to SCI Verkehr, the global aftermarket will reach € 78 billion by 2024.
