Maria Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture and Youth Education, made a statement to this effect in the European Parliament.

Thus, it is planned to restart the DiscoveryEU program, which aims to popularize railways among young people who have just turned 18 years old.

The EU is optimistic that program participants will be able to travel as early as March 2022. It is possible that citizens of countries outside the European Union will be able to apply for participation.

The DiscoveryEU application process requires applicants to answer six questions about European history and culture. The answers are then evaluated by the officials of the European Commission, who select the winners.

Last time, in 2019, 75 thousand people across Europe applied for participation in the program. At that time, 30 thousand tickets were provided.
