The auction for the purchase of ten new trains for the Kyiv metro will be held in March 2021

The first lot provides the purchase of five metro trains with five separate carriages, and the second lot – the same number of trains but with an inter-car passage. The tender is scheduled for March 11, 2021.

In March 2020, the EBRD provided Kyiv with 50 million euros for the purchase of 50 metro railcars. The loan must be repaid within 12 years.

“We are updating the train with absolutely new and comfortable railcars. Modern rolling stock is much better: it is able to reach higher speeds with less electricity consumption, ” said Viktor Braginsky, director of the Kyiv Metro, in September, when the Kyiv City Council provided the bank with guarantees to conclude the deal.
