28.12.2021
Stadler has made a Guinness World Record for 224 km with its battery-powered FLIRT Akku.
This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply citing Stadler.
A FLIRT Akku with three cars traveled autonomously on the Berlin-Warnemünde route and covered exactly 224.0 km in winter conditions with temperatures near freezing point. There were independent technical consultants on board.

Stadler began developing FLIRT Akku in 2016 as a way to provide alternative and potentially cleaner traction options on lines that are not yet electrified. The German Federal Railways Administration approved the train in 2018.
