Správa železnic installs ETCS systems on special rail vehicles
The Czech railway infrastructure management company SZ has signed two contracts for a total of 991 million CZK (39 million euros) for the installation of the ETCS system on 98 special rail vehicles.
CZ Loko has signed a contract for CZK 438 million (€ 17.24 million) for the installation of the mobile part of the European ETCS signaling system on its special rolling stock. Under the terms of the contract, CZ Loko will install a new system on the MUV 75 motorized utility vehicle, which is intended for the maintenance of railway tracks, informs railway magazine Railway Supply , citing Správa železnic.
The first two vehicles equipped with an on-board ETCS system will enter service on the Olomouc-Unicov railway line in December 2022, and the entire contract for the remaining 42 MUV 75 is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.
The MUV 75 from CZ Loko is equipped with a hydrostatic transmission of power from a diesel engine to two drive wheel sets. The vehicles are designed to transport people and materials and are used for the maintenance and repair of railway tracks and access roads with a track gauge of 1435 mm.
