CZ Loko to supply 10 locomotives to Italy

Czech manufacturer CZ Loko and Italian line construction and maintenance company Costruzioni Linee Ferroviarie (CLF) have entered into a framework contract for the supply of a total of 10 locomotives of 741.7 series. This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply citing information from CZ Loko.

The first two diesel locomotives will be delivered by the end of 2021. The remaining eight will be upgraded. Maintenance and service will be provided by CZ Loko Italia.

MDD 4 diesel shunting locomotive

The 741.7 series four-axle locomotives are designed for shunting operations in stations and for operations on sidings of metallurgical, mining or petrochemical enterprises, with line service capability.

The drive is provided by an internal combustion engine CAT 3508 C with an output of 1000 kW. Locomotives for CLF will be painted yellow and blue.

In total, five operators operate 13 locomotives of the 741.7 series in Italy. In addition, this rolling stock is operated in the Czech Republic and Turkey.
