Shunting locomotives of TGM8KM series for Cuba

Seven shunters of TGM8KM series were shipped to the Union of Railways of Cuba. Along with the locomotives there were 10 thousand units of spare parts and components shipped, as railway magazine «Railway Supply» reports with reference to the press release of Sinara Group.

“The project is colossal. According to the contract, STM has to supply of 75 TGM8KM shunting locomotives to Cuba, overhaul diesel locomotives previously operated by Cuban railways, and supply spare parts and equipment for the modernization of the locomotive depot. And we have achieved significant success. At the moment, 53 diesel locomotives of this series are already operating in this country. The technical readiness of the new locomotives is close to the highest reliability indicators. This is not just an investment – it is a significant contribution to the development of relations between our countries. STM holding is taking an active part in the revival of the railway transport system in Cuba, ” commented Anton Zubikhin, Deputy General Director for STM Sales.

The Sinara Transport Machines (STM) holding has practically restored the Sienaga depot in Havana. 260 tons of steel, 7 overhead cranes and several thousand pieces of equipment were supplied for its modernization. It allows a wide range of service and repair work. The Sinara Transport Machines holding set up four service centers and conducted a training campaign for more than 250 Cuban railroad specialists.
