Russian Railways orders additional electric trains
Russian Railways orders additional electric trains. Russian Railways and Transmashholding signed a contract for the supply of eight EP3D electric trains manufactured by TMH Demikhovsky Machine-Building Plant (DMZ) under a contract signed in April 2021. The Russian rolling stock manufacturer will supply 4 six-car and 4 four-car electric trains in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of this year.
The electric train has a modern appearance and a set of solutions to improve the comfort and safety of passengers. The EP3D train features a modern exterior with a sleek body and a modernized frontal part of the head cars. The salons accommodate six-seater sofas made of wear-resistant materials. The head carriages are equipped with eco-friendly toilet facilities, informs Railway Supplymagazine referring to Railway Pro.
The train uses modern technical solutions in the field of comfort and safety. EP3D includes microclimate systems equipped with air disinfection function, which neutralizes harmful microorganisms using ultraviolet radiation.
According to the requirements of Russian Railways, the trains will also be equipped with retractable footboards. They retract automatically when doors are opened on low platforms to help passengers get in and out.
