According to Rynek Infrastruktury, we are talking about investments in the amount of almost 4 billion zlotys (880 million euros). It is planned to attract them at the expense of the state budget and funds of the European Union.

Malashevichi are located near the border with Belarus. Here, from Brest, a branch with a track gauge of 1520 mm leads. It is used by trains to transit to the EU via Russia and Belarus from China. In Malashevichi they will be loaded onto trains for the European gauge with a width of 1435 mm. At the expense of investments, it is planned to significantly increase the throughput (up to 55 pairs of trains per day), take longer and heavier trains.

Cargotor expects to approve the application in the first quarter of 2021, which will make it possible to announce tenders and, in the long term, start construction as early as 2022. Although, according to some forecasts, the process may be somewhat delayed. The work is scheduled to be completed in 2026.

This construction is unprofitable for Ukraine, as it will divert the transit traffic in the traffic between China and the EU countries.
