In the Kharkiv region they plan to create a regional railway passenger company “Slobozhanshchina”. The authors of the idea also argue that the implementation of the project will make travel by electric trains comfortable. They promise to replace old trains with modern ones, to resume direct flights to Kharkiv from all regional centers and cities, to open new routes.

In the future, the Slobozhanshchina company plans to implement the City Train project, using the access roads of industrial enterprises in Kharkov, to introduce a single “electronic ticket” for suburban and urban routes.

“This is a public-private partnership project. We plan that the regional railway passenger company “Slobozhanshchina” will be financed from various sources, including the budgets of the region, city, Kharkiv region. We invite you to cooperate with Poltava and Sumy regions. We also invite a socially oriented business. The main sponsor is the Kryukov Railcar Building Plant. We want the new rolling stock to be ours, domestic. We also plan that JSC Ukrzaliznytsya will become a shareholder of the regional company with its share of the authorized capital in the form of electric trains, ” said Viktor Ostapchuk, chairman of the permanent parliamentary commission, ex-head of the Southern Railway.

The deputies plan to bring this issue to the next session of the regional council on March 11, 2021 and appeal to the President of Ukraine with a request to support the Slobozhanshchina project as a pilot.
