France will supply Ukraine with new rails manufactured by Saarstahl. Much of the rail infrastructure in Ukraine has been damaged, and Ukraine’s only rail manufacturer, Azovstal, is located in Mariupol and has been almost completely destroyed by Russian bombing. It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to RailFreight.

On December 13, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal signed an agreement with French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Mer on the supply. On the same day, Ukraine signed three more agreements with international partners. All of them relate to support for the restoration of Ukraine.

The agreement for the supply of rails for UZ is supported by the French government in the amount of up to 37.6 million euros. According to Bloomberg, we are talking about a loan for Ukraine to purchase rail material produced by the German Saarstahl AG in France. In addition to rails, loans and support were provided for the emergency restoration of power lines, the supply of bridges, and a program to support the digital industry in Ukraine.
