Monitoring of railcars is growing very fast in Europe
11.02.2022
Automated wagon inspection technology will be installed on the main freight rail lines after the development of monitoring equipment that can be installed within one day.

Automated railcar control systems have recently been installed in Almendingen near Bern in Switzerland and near Lipnik nad Beczvou in the Czech Republic, reports Railway Supply magazine, citing the Railway Gazette.
The equipment scans freight cars from both sides as they enter or leave the Chemelot factories in Zuid-Limburg.

The observation stations use modern cameras and sensors, an innovative lighting system and artificial intelligence to collect data on passing wagons. This includes wagon identification and marking, brakes, rims and dangerous goods information, all provided to customers through a web portal.
