Leasing company “Dessa” signed a contract with the Tikhvin plant for the supply of a batch of flat wagons

Leasing company “Dessa” has signed a contract with the Tikhvin plant United Wagon Co for the supply of a new batch of Type 13-6895 flat wagons for timber carriers. The wagons are due to be delivered in the first quarter of 2021 and will be leased to Sodex, reports railway magazine «Railway Supply» citing the Railway Gazette.

the supply of a batch of flat wagons

60-ft wagons with an axle load of 25 tons. Bogies of the 18-9855 type have a carrying capacity of 72,5 t or 158 m3, which is 40% more than similar 40-ft wagons. Loading length 18,85 m allows to place three stacks of timber of 6 m each, while remaining within the tariff range of the “short base”. Uniform cross-section side struts minimize wasted space when transporting packaged goods.

The cars are designed for maintenance intervals of up to 1 million km or eight years with a service life of 40 years.

“Both our clients and we had successful experience in operating Tikhvin platform cars and highly appreciated their high performance,” said Vyacheslav Pogudin, General Director of Dessa. “For this reason, we decided to make the new generation freight cars as the main element of the leasing portfolio that we are developing.”
