Lack of locomotives in Poland
The situation with traction rolling stock is becoming more complicated on the Polish railway market.
Two companies have already announced their intention to lease locomotives, reports railway magazine Railway Supply. PKP Intercity recently held a tender for the lease of 5 diesel locomotives. But not a single company expressed a desire to take part in it.
DB Cargo Polska announced its intention to lease three shunting locomotives. The proposed units of traction rolling stock should be: – six- or four-axle, – single cabins, – equipped with the necessary traffic safety systems and radio communication devices, – with a valid technical performance certificate during the contract period. Additionally, a minimum engine power of 800 kW and a traction force of at least 300 kN are indicated.
DB Cargo leases vehicles from January 2022 to January 2023 with the option to extend the term. In this proposal, the supplier must offer a monthly rental price. As previously reported, the Polish company sells used wagons and Soviet diesel locomotives.
