A fire broke out at the Novokuznetsk EVRAZ ZSMK plant, owned by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich. The plant is the leading manufacturer of rail products and the only manufacturer of tram rails in Russia.

EVRAZ fire

It is reported by Railway Supply magazine with reference to the Russian media.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was a power surge, as a result of which the coke gas blowers turned off.

“The personnel worked promptly according to the emergency response plan. As planned, gas outlets on coke oven batteries were put into operation, part of which technologically exited through the oven doors with ignition. This is a technological operation.” – reported in the ministry.

However, according to the sound and the “picture” taken, it can still be assumed that this is not an ordinary situation as they try to present it.

The incident is being actively discussed in local chats and public forums. Eyewitnesses of the events put forward their own opinions about the incident and even offer to look for saboteurs.
