Alstom has launched the first Prima M4 KZ4AT passenger locomotive. It is fully assembled in Kazakhstan and has even been commissioned on the local railroad.

The multipurpose locomotive is based on the Alstom Prima modular platform designed to provide operators with up-to-date passenger service solutions, reports Railway Supply magazine

The Prima M4 KZ4AT electric locomotive can travel at a speed of 200 km/h in passenger traffic and has been designed to successfully operate in extreme weather conditions from -50°C to 50°C.

The receipt of KZ4AT passenger locomotives is carried out under the contract with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy for the supply and maintenance of 302 Prima T8 KZ8A freight locomotives and 119 Prima M4 KZ4AT passenger locomotives since its signing in 2010.

As previously reported, Alstom has put into operation the first freight locomotives in Azerbaijan.
