89 new locomotives are planned to be delivered to Zabaikalskaya railway

In 2021, 89 new locomotives will be added to the traction rolling stock of the Trans-Baikal Railway. In particular, 74 electric locomotives of the Ermak 3ES5K series with axial traction control and 15 shunting locomotives of the TEM18DM series are expected to arrive. This was reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to “Gudok” website.

Three-section mainline electric locomotives of the Ermak series will be assigned to the operational locomotive depot of Chita, and the locomotives will be involved in shunting operations at 12 stations in the Trans-Baikal Territory and the Amur Region.

According to the corporate communications service, the locomotive fleet of the Trans-Baikal Railway was replenished with 14 shunting diesel locomotives of the TEM18DM series in 2020. In addition to new equipment, 10 3ES5K Ermak electric freight locomotives with axle traction control and 14 mainline diesel locomotives of the 2TE25KM series, allowing to drive trains weighing from 6300 to 7100 tons, arrived here last year from other roads of the Russian Railways network.

In 2020, the cargo turnover on the Trans-Baikal Railway reached 286.7 billion ton-km, which is 1.5% more than in 2019.

Earlier it was reported that 43 new locomotives will arrive on the South Ural Railway in 2021.
