4.8 Billion USD Trans Afghan Rail Project

The Trans Afghan Rail project provides the construction of a 573 km railroad from Peshawar to Kabul and further through Mazar-i-Sharif to Uzbekistan. This is the shortest and most economically attractive route for freight traffic, which will include 27 stations. It is also planned to build 912 artificial structures and 7 tunnels, informs railway magazine «Railway Supply », referring to Zdmira.

Representatives of Pakistan and Uzbekistan on the eve of the new year 2021 in Islamabad discussed the implementation of the Trans Afghan Rail project, which provides the construction of a railway through Afghanistan. In the future, other Central Asian countries, such as Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, may be involved in the project.

The Trans Afghan Rail project is valued at $ 4.8 billion. It is of great importance for the economic development of the three countries and will further strengthen regional ties. In particular, Pakistan is ready to provide the Central Asian countries with the opportunity to get access to the Indian Ocean through its seaports.
