The contract, published in the organization profile, is divided into several parts, each of which can be submitted by the supplier separately. The state railway carrier ČD Cargo wants to use electric locomotives mainly for further expansion abroad.

The main requirement is the delivery of six multisystem locomotives with a permit for operation in almost all European countries. In addition, ČD Cargo is also requesting an option for four more locomotives.

ČD Cargo still has an option for 40 TRAXX MS3 multisystem locomotives from Bombardier, which it may or may not use to its full potential.

“We also need a tender to check the current price level and the availability of locomotives of various designs on the market. We want to be sure that we buy locomotives on the best terms, both in terms of price and in terms of their equipment. With the growth of European AC traction capacity, we are, among other things, monitoring the possibility of supplying new locomotives without DC voltage of 3 kV, ” said Tomáš Tóth, CEO of ČD Cargo.
