Record-breaking 110.5 metre Open Web Steel Girder

DFCCIL described the span as its longest Rail Flyover (RFO) girder so far. At 110.5 metres and roughly 1,500 tonnes, the Open Web Steel Girder reflects the scale of work being delivered through detailed planning, innovation, and a skilled on-ground workforce.

Complex execution over an active Indian Railways track

For the DFCCIL Rail Flyover girder launch, one of the key difficulties was moving the steel structure over live operations. The girder was radially shifted by 32 metres over an active Indian Railways track, a process that depended on precision, seamless coordination, and continuous monitoring to keep the manoeuvre safe and accurate. A brief summary of the Kalamboli milestone also appears on the Central Railway / Indian Railways Portal. DFCCIL also highlighted the role of engineers, technicians, and ground staff in managing each step of the movement and placement.

JNPT–Vaitarna section of WDFC and leadership presence

Senior officials from DFCCIL’s Corporate Office witnessed the Kalamboli milestone, including Shri Sandesh Srivastava, Executive Director (Project), and Shri S.K. Negi, Consultant (Project Development). They commended the teams for their technical competence and precision-led execution on site.

The JNPT–Vaitarna section is a critical segment of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor under the jurisdiction of the CGM/Mumbai Unit of DFCCIL. For additional context on the corridor and the Vaitarna–JNPT stretch, Railway Supply has previously outlined how this part of WDFC supports freight connectivity to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), reinforcing DFCCIL’s role in building modern, efficient, and globally competitive freight infrastructure.
