DB tests a cleaning robot at Frankfurt railway station

Deutsche Bahn is testing a cleaning robot, nicknamed Manny, at Frankfurt Central Station. The autonomous robot, equipped with innovative technology to combat the coronavirus, will be tested by the end of April 2021. It is designed for cleaning up to 12 thousand square meters per day, informs Railway Supply magazine citing information from globalrailwayreview.com.

The robotic machine can sweep the floor and neutralize viruses with ozonized water, a natural disinfectant that is also highly effective against coronaviruses and bacteria.

The robot, equipped with ultrasonic sensors, cameras and GPS antennas, moves independently through the underground area of Frankfurt Central Station and is able to remove large debris, such as beverage cans. He can recognize obstacles in his path and go around them, or stop for a while while its path is blocked.
