Dapeng Branch Line EMU Targets 30-Minute Journey

The Dapeng Branch Line EMU has been unveiled at Xinda Depot for the Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Railway. Developed jointly by CRRC Changchun and Shenzhen Metro Group, the train combines high-speed rail performance with the high-frequency, metro-style operation used in urban rail transit systems.

Dapeng Branch Line EMU Technical Features
The train is designed for a maximum operating speed of 160 km/h. It uses a 25kV AC traction power system and is equipped with a dual CBTC-CTCS signalling system. The vehicle also supports GOA4 fully automated operation, while its car body is made from high-strength aluminum alloy and is designed for a service life of up to 30 years.
The EMU can run in both 8-car and 4-car formations, allowing capacity to be adjusted according to passenger demand.
Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Railway Route Scope
The train has been developed specifically for the Dapeng Branch Line, which extends for 39.387 km and connects six stations. The route will reduce the journey between Longcheng and Xinda to around 30 minutes.

Once in operation, the new EMU will help support the development of a 1-hour commuting and living network. It will also promote deeper “integration of four networks” across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, covering mainline railways, intercity railways, suburban railways, and urban rail transit systems.
