Crossing safety grants fund OLI programs in 10 states
14.05.2026
Crossing safety grants totaling $197,999 have been awarded by Operation Lifesaver Inc. (OLI). OLI is working with the Federal Highway Administration. The competitive funding is intended to support grade crossing safety awareness. It will support state-level Operation Lifesaver programs in 10 states. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Crossing safety grants for public education
According to Operation Lifesaver, the grants will go toward public education projects and campaigns focused on crossing safety. The state organizations receiving support are in California, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.
As Progressive Railroading reported, two of the planned efforts target specific audiences and events. California Operation Lifesaver will run a crossing safety and trespass prevention campaign from June 1 through July 31. The campaign is timed to coincide with the 2026 FIFA World Cup soccer event. Meanwhile, Kansas Operation Lifesaver is preparing a statewide agriculture-focused campaign. That outreach is aimed at farmers, ranchers and rural drivers.
“We’re proud to support our state programs as they bring these innovative rail safety education projects to life,” OLI Executive Director Rachel Maleh said in a press release.
