Connecticut transportation projects plan funding breakdown

Just under 30% of the planned funding is directed to transit systems. Those systems include rail, bus and rideshare systems. In addition, the draft assigns $1.1 billion to transit capital projects and operating costs. It sets aside $13.8 million for public transportation operating assistance. At the same time, it assigns $3.4 billion to highway and bridge capital projects.

  • replacement of platforms at New Haven Union Station
  • improvements at New Haven State Street Station
  • upgrades to transit facilities
  • replacements for transit vehicle fleets

Federal, state and local funding for CTDOT projects

Meanwhile, according to CTDOT officials, the Federal Transit Administration and the Federal Highway Administration are slated to provide $4.5 billion for the projects. The state would provide $932 million. Separately, local funds would add $45 million toward the total budget.

Still, the draft materials are available on CTDOT’s STIP webpage.
