CN transported more than 2.96 MMT of grain and grain products⁠. This surpassed its previous May record of 2.54 MMT, set in 2025. The company attributed the volume to sustained export demand and ample grain supply. It also cited efficient operations across its network.

CPKC sets Canadian grain transportation record

CPKC carried 2.9 million metric tons of Canadian grain and grain products⁠ from western Canada. The volume moved in 30,324 carloads and set a new May record. Its previous May tonnage high dated to 2020. The latest result marked CPKC’s fourth monthly record during the first five months of 2026.
