Alstom Wins Mauá Norte Yard Signalling Contract in Brazil
27.07.2026
BRAZIL: Alstom will equip CPTM’s new six-track Mauá Norte Yard with an integrated signalling and control system under an 18-month contract for São Paulo’s Line 10-Turquoise commuter railway.

Six tracks and SIL 4 signalling
Alstom announced the agreement on July 15 after signing the contract with Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos. The new yard, already built by CPTM, sits between Mauá and Capuava stations on Line 10-Turquoise.
Its six tracks support shunting, train formation and the stabling of trainsets outside operating hours. Alstom’s scope extends beyond conventional signalling to electronic interlocking, turnout operation and control, lineside light signals and train occupancy detection.
The package also includes CCTV, access control, telecommunications infrastructure and radio communications dedicated to railway operations. The official announcement says the signalling equipment is designed to meet Safety Integrity Level 4, or SIL 4.

Control links, timetable and warranty
The project requires Alstom to adapt and integrate the existing signalling systems at Capuava and Mauá. A local control centre at the yard and two remote supervision posts will connect with the Line 10-Turquoise Operational Control Centre.
Alstom says this architecture is intended to give controllers real-time visibility of track occupancy, support centralised traffic management and reduce reliance on manual procedures. The integration should also keep yard movements coordinated with the main line.
System development is to be carried out with Brazilian labour. Alstom plans to execute the project over 18 months and then monitor operations for another six months to confirm that the systems are functioning properly.
The contract also includes a two-year warranty. Neither Alstom nor CPTM disclosed its value in the announcement.
