The contract introduces general wage increases and better scheduling terms. These align compensation with national standards and address concerns around work-life balance, overtime, and crew availability.
Strong Union Support for Caltrain Labor Agreement
Union leaders emphasized the importance of the ratification, citing it as a major step toward labor stability. Improved rest time policies and seniority-based benefits also reflect growing focus on safety and retention.
TASI, a subsidiary of Herzog Transit Services, continues to manage train operations under contract with the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board. The board owns Caltrain, which serves Northern California from San Francisco to Gilroy.
Caltrain Service Stability Secured Through 2029
By securing this agreement, Caltrain strengthens its capacity to deliver reliable service. The pact comes amid broader modernization projects, including electrification and service expansion.
Union officials view the contract as a foundation for future cooperation. Both parties plan to collaborate on operational improvements that support riders, workforce sustainability, and regional transit goals.
This deal helps Caltrain maintain competitive staffing levels while preparing for increasing demand across the network.
