Baotou–Yinchuan High-speed Railway has entered full operation, according to China Daily, after the Baotou–Huinong section opened on Dec 23.

This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The start of full service was marked by train D4667 leaving Baotou Railway Station at 10:08 a.m., a development also reported by Xinhua.

The high-speed rail line links Baotou city in North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region with Yinchuan city in Northwest China’s Ningxia Hui autonomous region, strengthening connectivity across the two regions.

Route length, stations, and design speed

The route spans 519 kilometers, is designed for 250 kilometers per hour, and includes 13 stations. With the line now operating end to end, travel time between Baotou and Yinchuan has been reduced from about six hours to under three.

Role in the Beijing-Lanzhou corridor and national HSR network

The railway is described as a crucial component of the Beijing-Lanzhou corridor, a main channel within China’s “eight vertical and eight horizontal” high-speed railway network, a framework previously covered by Railway Supply. With full operation in place, it is intended to create a faster northwestern route to Beijing while further enhancing the national rail network and connectivity in northwest China.
