The $20 million facility will produce specialty chemicals for water and wastewater treatment. Pencco’s business is focused on water and wastewater treatment chemicals for municipal and industrial applications, which matches the stated production focus of the Gadsden site. According to a local news report, the company expects the project to create 40 jobs in manufacturing, transportation and engineering.
OmniTRAX said Pencco’s investment shows strong confidence in Gadsden. It also framed the project as an example of cooperation between industry, the local community and rail partners.

Pencco also worked with the Gadsden-Etowah Industrial Development Authority and the Etowah Chamber of Commerce on the project. Their involvement places the facility within a broader local industrial development effort.
The Alabama & Tennessee River Railway operates more than 120 miles of track from Birmingham, Alabama, to the rail barge terminal at the Port of Guntersville in Alabama. ATN also interchanges with CSX at Boyles Yard in Birmingham and with Norfolk Southern Railway in Alabama City.
