MOROCCO: Vossloh and Futrifer have launched a Casablanca-based joint venture to maintain national and urban rail networks, with local recruitment and training due to begin in 2027.

The new company, Vossloh Futrifer Services Maroc, became effective on July 1, 2026, according to Vossloh’s official announcement. It was formed by Vossloh Services France and Futrifer Indústrias Ferroviárias, a Portuguese manufacturer in which Vossloh and Diorama are shareholders.

Maintenance scope spans national and city networks

The portfolio covers switch and crossing maintenance, general track work, mobile rail welding performed manually or with robotic assistance, and rail grinding and milling. The combination gives the company a service range extending from work on turnouts to treatment of the running surface of rails.

Services are intended for the national network managed by ONCF and for the urban rail systems in Casablanca and Rabat. Initial operations will use experienced teams from Vossloh Services France and Futrifer, which have worked together in France since 2024.

The official announcement does not disclose the value or duration of any maintenance contracts, the volume of work already assigned to the venture, or a timetable for individual projects.

Moroccan workforce planned from 2027

From 2027, the partners plan to recruit and train Moroccan employees, moving from imported start-up teams toward a locally based workforce. Vossloh is also participating in a wider industry initiative to establish a vocational training centre for Morocco’s railway sector.

The new service company enters a market with parallel investment in mainline and urban infrastructure. The Morocco Rail Plan 2040 envisages up to 1,300 km of high-speed lines alongside development of the conventional network and city rail systems.

Vossloh has operated in Morocco for several decades. In 2024, it secured an order to supply rail fastening systems and turnouts for the planned high-speed line between Casablanca and Marrakesh, giving the group an existing equipment role alongside the maintenance venture.
