The busiest railway line is being reconstructed in Hungary
The reconstruction of Budapest – Cegled – Szolnok railway line (100a) is in the process in Hungary. This is the busiest route in the metropolitan area: over 200 passenger and freight trains run here every day. More than 11 million people annually use railway services on this line. This year, a state grant in the amount of 20 billion forints (56 million euros) has been allocated for the reconstruction. This is reported by the railway magazine Railway Supply citing information from MÁV.

“Improving and maintaining the stable operation and capacity of the railway company is a priority. Last year, the reconstruction of the line began with a section between the Western Railway Station and Varoshliget Park. Work will continue from April 6 on the Vecses – Monor section. They will last in several stages until the end of autumn, ”the railway company said.
Budapest plans to reconstruct two suburban railway lines
During the modernization, the number of trains will be slightly reduced and the timetable will be changed. The changes will affect not only suburban trains, but also long-distance trains, in particular InterCity between Budapest, Nyiregyhaza and Zahony.
