“Ural Locomotives” files a counterclaim against Siemens Mobility
21.03.2024
According to information from RIA Novosti, during the court session, a representative of Siemens Mobility stated that “Ural Locomotives” had not paid Siemens Mobility 799 million rubles for the supplied equipment under the 2018 contract, this is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.
As a result, Siemens Mobility filed a lawsuit to recover this amount from the debtor company, as well as penalty for late payment, the total amount of which exceeds 1 billion rubles.
Since 2010, “Ural Locomotives” has operated as a joint venture between Siemens Mobility and the Sinara Group, specializing in the production of electric locomotives and trains.
However, starting from 2022, after the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the departure of the German manufacturer, the Russian side took over the management and development of the enterprise.
In response to Siemens Mobility’s lawsuit, a settlement agreement was proposed, under which the parties could split the debt in half and pay it off by mid-June, provided that the penalty is waived.
However, Siemens Mobility noted that it cannot waive the penalty requirement.
In turn, a representative of “Ural Locomotives” stated that they consider the settlement agreement only in terms of the stated claims, so the issue of the penalty is not being considered. Thus, “Ural Locomotives” are preparing a counterclaim.
Additionally, two more lawsuits from Siemens Mobility against “Ural Locomotives” are planned to be considered in the near future, totaling 1.2 billion rubles.
