The Prince George Citizen reported that 34 cars from a loaded Canadian National coal train derailed at about 10 p.m. Tuesday at Mile 56 on CN’s Nechako Subdivision, east of Vanderhoof. The site is close to the Nechako River, and no injuries were reported.

CN said its crews responded to the incident. The railroad added that environmental experts are engaged with provincial and federal regulators, and that it is working with local municipalities and First Nation communities to coordinate and plan remediation efforts for the river, as summarized by Trains.com.
