TEXRail Expansion Brings New Opportunities to Fort Worth Near Southside
12.01.2025
TEXRail is set to extend into Fort Worth’s Near Southside thanks to a $25M USDOT grant. This project aims to expand transit services, benefiting residents, workers, and visitors. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Trinity Metro still faces a $15M to $20M funding gap to complete the $167M extension. However, the grant accelerates progress, enabling construction to begin this month and conclude by 2026.
New TEXRail Station to Serve Growing Near Southside Neighborhood
The planned station will be located south of Mistletoe Boulevard, near Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center. The 2.1-mile extension will better serve commuters, hospital staff, and local businesses.

TEXRail Supports Urban Growth and Sustainability
The Near Southside extension aligns with Fort Worth’s goals to promote sustainability and reduce congestion. With increased accessibility, the project encourages public transit use, reducing environmental impact and enhancing quality of life.
The TEXRail extension is one of 109 projects funded through the RAISE program. U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg emphasized the program’s role in improving mobility and mitigating climate challenges.
