Amtrak construction projects are moving ahead in Seattle and South Carolina. They cover a new maintenance and inspection facility and station upgrades. At King Street Yard in Seattle, Amtrak has completed that facility’s steel frame. That step followed the final beam’s installation. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Seattle facility for Airo trainsets

Once in use, the King Street Yard maintenance facility will support Airo trainset maintenance. Also, the trainsets are due to debut this year.

Station upgrades under the ADA Stations Program

Separately, Railfan & Railroad Magazine reported completed improvement work at Camden and Denmark. Both South Carolina stops are served by the Chicago–Miami Floridian. For example, the Camden project included a 600-foot concrete boarding platform. Also, it included new walkways, ramps, lighting, and signs. Denmark received a new 240-foot platform. In addition, it received new lighting, walkways, and signage.

The station work is part of Amtrak’s ADA Stations Program. Also, the program covers 134 stations and 66 construction projects across the country. It is scheduled to wrap up in 2029.
