This marked the second public presentation of RS ZERO after Germany. The Czech Republic was selected due to its dense railway network with low electrification levels.

Czech engineers from Stadler’s Prague office contributed to development, allowing the design to meet local operational needs.

The innovative train accommodates up to 165 passengers and is available in both single- and double-car versions.

RS ZERO for regions with limited electrification

RS ZERO is ideal for regional routes where only 35% of the railway network is electrified.

The battery-powered version offers a range of up to 150 km, while the hydrogen-powered model can run up to 800 km autonomously.

Operators can choose the right variant based on infrastructure and route specifics.

Technical features of RS ZERO and market prospects

RS ZERO delivers quiet operation, zero local emissions, and high energy efficiency, making it an environmentally sound choice.

Its modular design allows the train to be tailored to different route lengths and passenger volumes.

Stadler is already in talks with European operators, positioning RS ZERO as part of a sustainable rail transport strategy.

As a result, the hydrogen railbus offers strong potential for regions aiming to reduce carbon emissions without heavy investment in electrification.
