Stadler Expands into Lithuania’s Rail Freight Market

Stadler has entered Lithuania’s rail market with a contract to supply seventeen electric locomotives. The deal includes an option for seventeen additional units, along with spare parts and maintenance services.

These locomotives are built to handle temperatures as low as -40ºC and feature a 1.520-meter gauge. They deliver 500kN of tractive effort and reach speeds of up to 120 km/h, ensuring high performance.

Stadler’s Sustainable Technology for LTG Cargo

Stadler’s EURO9000 locomotives feature advanced electric brakes, automatic SA3 couplers, and winterization packages, enabling smooth operations during harsh weather. Each unit also includes dual driver’s cabs, onboard restrooms, and video surveillance systems.

LTG Cargo CEO Eglė Šimė emphasized that the locomotives represent a step toward sustainable freight transport. She highlighted their efficiency, noting that electric locomotives are three times more energy-efficient than diesel models.
