SNCB Increases Recruitment for Train Operators and Guards

SNCB is still spending money on developing workforces due to rising demand for railway professionals who are skilled. There is an intention to hire more than 140 new jobs to serve enlarging passenger services.

There are more than 60 driver positions in Brussels, Mons, Charleroi, and Liège depot locations, and more than 80 conductor positions in Brussels, Namur, Charleroi, Mons, and in Liège depot locations. Application should take place soon since these positions receive great interest.

Successful applicants will initiate full paid training in the second half of this year. SNCB provides full education and certification expenses, allowing ambitious individuals to initiate long-term railway service with no prior experience.

Train driver candidates must hold an upper secondary education diploma or equivalent. For the Liège depot, applicants must also know German. Training lasts about one year, and graduates become certified drivers and shunters.

SNCB Provides Paid Study and Good Wages

Train applicants do not require any formal diploma but should be familiar with both national languages. Their five-month training makes them ready for ensuring safety, convenience, and communication for travelers in journeys.

Technicians conduct technical inspections, deal with emergencies, and ensure that trains move safely along the route daily. Since the job involves independence and concentration, more and more women enter this occupation every year.

Conductors remain passengers’ main contact. They check tickets, provide travel updates, and coordinate safe departures. Because of the job’s social nature, each day brings new challenges and experiences.
