Russian Railways launched a speeded train from Siberia to Northern Europe
The first speeded train with chemical products departed from the Kopylovo station in the Tomsk region and arrived at the Hamina station in Finland. The train covered the distance of 4.5 thousand km in 5.5 days. Previously, the delivery of cargo along this route took 11.5 days informs railway magazine Railway Supply with reference to the operator’s website.
Speed acceleration was achieved due to a specially developed timetable, agreed with the Finnish railway. The full-set train, formed of 82 wagons, did not require additional sorting on the way, which also significantly reduced the delivery time.
The operator plans to send up to 10 such trains per month.
