Ridership highs for BART in March and Tri-Rail in Miami
15.04.2026
BART and Tri-Rail ridership highs marked strong ridership results for both systems, with Bay Area Rapid Transit recording 5,403,140 exits in March and Tri-Rail seeing heavy Saturday traffic in Miami in early April. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

The gains came from different travel patterns: broader March demand and major events in the San Francisco Bay area for BART, and soccer-related weekend traffic for Tri-Rail in Miami.
BART and Tri-Rail ridership highs
March brought Bay Area Rapid Transit its highest monthly ridership since the pandemic. The agency recorded 5,403,140 exits last month, above its previous post-pandemic monthly high of 5,346,890 exits, which was registered in October 2025.

Saturday ridership surge also stood out. According to BART, Saturday ridership in March climbed 38% from a year earlier because of strong demand for weekend travel and major events across the San Francisco Bay area. In addition, average weekday ridership in March exceeded 200,000 trips for the first time since the pandemic.
“This signals a continued return of riders for both work and everyday travel,” BART officials said.
Tri-Rail daily ridership mark tied to Inter Miami CF
Tri-Rail also posted a notable daily ridership result on April 11, when the Inter Miami CF soccer team began its inaugural season at Nu Stadium in Miami. The commuter rail system logged 9,668 total rides that day, making it the fourth-busiest Saturday in its history.
For the club’s first game on April 4, Tri-Rail provided 9,131 rides, the eight-highest ridership mark on a Saturday. In a Tri-Rail press release, officials said more than 1,000 fans used the railroad’s special event trains for the team’s opening home games. The stadium is within walking distance of Miami Airport Station at the Miami Intermodal Center.
