Rajgir Howrah special train services will run daily from May 16 to June 17. The service is intended to handle the large number of pilgrims travelling to Rajgir for the Malmas Mela. This is reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

East Central Railway CPRO Saraswati Chandra said the Howrah-Rajgir special will operate throughout the mela period, as reported by The Times of India. “The Howrah-Rajgir special will depart from Howrah at 10.50pm and reach Rajgir at 1pm the following day. On its return journey, the Rajgir-Howrah will leave Rajgir at 2pm and arrive at Howrah at 4.30am the next morning,” he said.

The train will travel via Nalanda, Biharsharif, Asthawan, Barbigha, Sheikhpura, Jamalpur, Lakhisarai, Kiul and Bhagalpur, among other stations.

In addition, its 14-coach composition will include four sleeper class coaches, eight general second-class coaches and two brake vans.

Howrah-Mokama Express gets added coach

Separately, railways will add one general coach to the Howrah-Mokama Express from May 16 to June 16 as a separate step to ease overcrowding. “The train will now run with a total of 13 coaches comprising eight general coaches, three sleeper coaches and two brake vans,” the CPRO said.
