The contract also provides for the provision of maintenance services by the manufacturer. The total order value is PLN 258.6 million. If PKP Intercity uses the option and orders additional locomotives, the contract value will rise to almost PLN 388 million.
Newag commits to deliver all locomotives within 42 months from the moment of signing the contract, with the delivery of the first vehicle in 18 months. The manufacturer needs to obtain a permit to operate vehicles in six countries: Poland, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. All locomotives will be equipped with the European level 2 ETCS train management system, which significantly increases safety standards on the tracks.
The vehicles will also have a remote diagnostics system that will monitor locomotives in real time, which will affect their efficient operation.
