The order to deploy maglev at Deendayal Port has been formalised through a contract with startup TuTr Hyperloop to organise freight movements across the port area using magnetic-levitation technology, as reported by Metro Rail Today. The project concerns implementation within the port’s own infrastructure.

The final stage is the entry into service of a freight maglev line intended to move cargo within the port area.

TuTr Hyperloop: vacuum maglev (hyperloop) for high-speed freight

In August, TuTr Hyperloop signed a memorandum of understanding with the administration of Jawaharlal Nehru Port, as well as with Vadhvan Port, which is building the deep-water Vadhvan port. The document is aimed at studying the potential application of vacuum maglev (hyperloop) technologies for high-speed freight transportation.

Earlier in the same month, the company signed an MoU with India’s state-owned engineering manufacturer BEML. The parties intend to build a full-scale hyperloop system prototype, test its performance under controlled conditions, and scale the result for mass deployment.

MagRail, Nevomo and DP World: MoU on a pilot project

Deendayal Port had shown interest in maglev solutions before. In July, the port authority signed an MoU with Polish startup Nevomo and UAE port operator DP World on cooperation to develop and implement a pilot project for automated movement of rail freight in ports using Nevomo’s maglev technology, patented under the MagRail brand—reported by DP World and Railway Supply.
