OnTrack Monitoring system for pantographs and contact network
24.10.2022
Schunk (Germany) presented the OnTrack Monitoring intelligent system, which collects, accumulates and analyzes information about the state of pantographs and the contact network using sensors installed on the pantograph of rolling stock, including those already in regular operation. Railway Supply magazine writes about this with reference to zdmira.
The OnTrack Monitoring system controls, in particular, the amount of contact pressure for its fine adjustment, since excessive contact pressure causes accelerated wear, and insufficient contact pressure causes possible loss of contact and, as a result, sparking. Other monitored parameters include contact insert wear and contact wire zigzag. The system also allows you to identify local defects in the contact wire before they lead to significant negative consequences. Customers can choose from numerous parameters that the system controls that are most relevant to their specific conditions.
The system uses cloud storage of data that is processed and provided to the user in a convenient way. Implementation of the OnTrack Monitoring system makes it possible to create conditions for predictive maintenance based on predicting the state of technical equipment, and to increase the operational readiness of rolling stock and infrastructure.
