Arkansas Short Line Railroads Inc. previously operated the three railroads. Danny, Michael and Tim Robbins oversaw those operations. Under the new ownership agreement, Danny and Michael Robbins will join OmniTRAX. They will manage operations of the three short lines, according to a company press release.

“These acquisitions maintain trusted local relationships while adding expanded reach and resources to serve Arkansas for generations to come,” said Nathan Brown, OmniTRAX’s chief strategy officer.

Dardanelle and Russellville Railroad is located within the Arkansas River Valley industrial center. It is in the western region of the state. Meanwhile, the other two short lines serve shippers in southern Arkansas. OmniTRAX plans to begin operating the short lines on June 1. That date will mark the start of service under OmniTRAX ownership.

Separately, the short lines interchange with Union Pacific Railroad and BNSF Railway. They have served Arkansas shippers since 1883, company officials said. The acquisitions bring OmniTRAX’s short-line holdings to 35 railroads. Those railroads serve ports and industrial parks across the United States.
