Framework agreement and fleet replacement
The tender is structured as a 10-year framework agreement. ÖBB says the new locomotives are intended to replace several existing shunting classes. Those classes have different remaining service lives. The current fleet includes around 200 electric Class 1063, 1064 and 1163 locomotives. It also includes Class 2068 and 2070 diesel shunting locomotives.
ÖBB plans to invite up to eight candidates to the second stage of the procedure. Procurement documents are available via the ProVia platform, as reported by Railmarket.
