USA: MTA subway vending machines are coming to 26 New York City stations, with the first three units already operating inside former retail spaces during the initial rollout.

MTA Subway Vending Machines Open at Three Stops

The first machine opened at 23 St on the R and W lines in July 2026. Two more are operating at 2 Av on the F line and 116 St on the 6 line. According to the MTA announcement, each unit occupies a former retail space and sits flush with the station wall, keeping platforms and passenger circulation areas clear.

CC Vending, Inc. was selected through a competitive request-for-proposals process to install and operate the equipment. It has partnered with Coca-Cola for the initial offering of snacks and beverages. The five-year license includes an option for another five years, while the agreement also allows future sales of retail merchandise, technology products, health and beauty products, and other convenience items.

The MTA told Spectrum News NY1 that the machines are cashless and made with industrial-strength metal and strong glass.

MTA Subway Vending Machines: Full 26-Station Rollout

The initial three locations are part of a selective rollout across an MTA subway system that has 472 stations on 25 routes. The remaining planned locations are:

● Manhattan: 23 St (6); 42 St–Bryant Park (B, D, F, M); 49 St (N, Q, R, W); 5 Av (7); 8 St–NYU (R, W); 86th St (1); 86th St (4, 5, 6); 96th St (6); Broadway–Lafayette St (B, D, F, M); Brooklyn Bridge–City Hall (4, 5, 6); Canal St (A, C, E); Canal St (1); Christopher St–Stonewall (1); Grand St (B, D); Prince St (R, W); South Ferry (1); and Wall St (4, 5).

● Brooklyn: Atlantic Av–Barclays Center (2, 3, 4, 5, B, D, N, Q, R); Borough Hall (2, 3, 4, 5); and DeKalb Av (B, D, Q, R).

● Queens: Flushing–Main St (7); Jamaica–179th St (F); and Woodhaven Blvd (M, R).

Additional installations are scheduled through the rest of 2026 and into 2027.
