Sydney Metro: Siemens Unveils a New Train for the Future Line

Siemens has unveiled a model of a new train that will be added to the Sydney Metro on the Western Sydney Airport line. The presentation will allow passenger feedback to be considered before the final production of the rolling stock. This was reported by the railway transport news portal Railway Supply.

Advanced Technology for Sydney Metro
The Western Sydney Airport line, spanning 23 kilometers, will connect the city center with the new airport. Construction is currently underway, with operations expected to begin in 2026. Siemens will supply 12 driverless trains, each consisting of three carriages.

The train supply contract was signed at the end of 2022. The project includes not only rolling stock production but also the construction of a depot, as well as the installation of signaling and telecommunications systems. Siemens’ participation in the project is valued at €900 million.
